The philosophy at the Star Motel is simple and down-to-earth: make every guest feel welcome and comfortable, and help make their time in Sedona as pleasant and unforgettable as possible.
The Star Motel was built in the 1950’s, but it wouldn’t be until 30 years later that the desRosiers family would buy the motel and start a business that is still going strong. They came to Sedona for a vacation in 1980 and were so enthralled with the area that they decided to buy the motel. For the next 20 years, the desRosiers would run the motel with the simple goal of providing a comfortable place to stay where their guests would feel welcome, calm, and relaxed – an atmosphere that perfectly compliments Sedona’s natural surroundings.
In 2000, their daughter, Anne, took over the business. She is carrying on the family-oriented tone of hospitality and warmth. The motel may be humble compared to the neighboring high-priced luxury resorts, but she finds that having fewer rooms allows her and her friendly staff to truly get to know all of their guests. In doing so, they are able to help each one get the most out of their time in Sedona. This, more often than not, results in guests becoming regular visitors.
Upon first meeting Anne you will feel as though you’ve been friends for years, and, having been a resident for over 35 years, she can provide the local inside-scoop frequently sought out by visitors. She knows all the great places to go and things to do. Hiking, horseback riding, fine dining, metaphysical exploration… whatever your interests, she will be able to point you in the right direction.
